Happy Wedding Wednesday babes! Thanks so much for following along on our wedding planning journey so far! Today I’m so excited to talk about and share with you our wedding venue, which I’m sure is one of my favorite wedding posts yet. You can see my last wedding post here, I shared my top 5 personal tips when selecting the perfect venue. Oddly enough, Brendan and I had actually seen the venue for the past nine years every summer because we happened to be across the water on our annual family summer vacay. Even though we heard amazing things about it and constantly gazed at its natural beauty year after year, we really never considered it till last summer.

It wasn’t till we were driving home from California disappointed after visiting our first venue that I jokingly said, “Why don’t we just get married in Washington?!”. We had something very particular in mind when envisioning the best day of our lives together – somewhere we loved, something secluded, something intimate just for us, somewhere our loved ones could stay with us and could escape to as well. Our wedding is about being true to us and finding a space that fits and feels like us. Every summer we escape to the dreamy Hood Canal in Washington and spend a week at Brendan’s grandparents summer home. A place we have spent the last nine years together coming to celebrate family and friends and a tradition instilled and embraced by his entire family since 2000. As a couple who treasures family, we are so thankful that our two families have been able to grow and share these moments together summer after summer. Which is one of the reasons we chose Washington for the location, it is a meaningful and significant place to both of us and together now, both of our families. Instead of choosing an unknown location, we wanted to have a place that will continue to be always ours forever. After exhaustive research and a full grounds tour, we knew it had to be Alderbrook Resort and Spa for our August 2017 wedding. For too many reasons to list, we agreed it is the perfect place to say, “I do!”.

First, it is a stunning lodge style resort and spa with the most breath-taking views surrounded by the Olympic Mountains and resting on the shores of the Hood Canal. Second, it makes it possible to have our entire wedding held in one place – the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and celebrations will all held on the property. We love the fact that it’s all inclusive for our guests and they won’t have to travel from location to location. Third, it completely embodies our wedding style with a total bonus of endless photo options varying from an expansive outdoor landscape to waterfront views. From the beginning, I knew I wanted a romantic lush outdoor wedding with simple yet organic aesthetic and this venue is naturally all of that. Fourth, it has luxurious guest rooms on the property and with all our guests coming from out of town a beautiful vacation spot for them was crucial for us. Our goal is to have everyone on site with us celebrating for not just a day but a weekend. Lastly, this location is everything to us, we never envisioned such a special location for both of us would be the place we share our vows. This beautiful place has held some of our most magical moments thus far as we grew together in our relationship and we can’t wait to share it with all our closest family and friends.

With the most stunning ceremony spot with sweeping views of the pristine waters of the Pacific that highlight the Olympic Mountains, dramatic gorgeous greenery, a perfect quaint lawn for dinner and a ballroom with four white french double doors that open to a waterfront view for dancing, we couldn’t be more excited! After we made our venue decision, we have been focusing on all the little details. Our hope is that by creating a beautiful atmosphere for our wedding, our guests will feel just as loved as we do.
